About the Customer

This US-based EV charging company was founded by eight of the world’s leading automakers to create the largest non-Tesla EV charging network in North America.
Their goal: deploy over 30,000 stations by 2030. To achieve this, they needed real-time observability into charger performance, usage data, and operational metrics, at scale.

The Solution

NaNLABS embedded alongside the customer’s engineering team to co-develop a scalable platform with real-time streaming, automated data workflows, and actionable dashboards.
Cloud Data Architecture
  • Designed an event-driven architecture to ingest, normalize, and store IoT and POS data
  • Implemented 15-minute streaming intervals with fallback sync for APIs with slower refresh cycles
  • Assessed tool viability and worked with third-party vendors to optimize for scale
Data Engineering & Automation
  • Automated extraction and normalization of charging session data across disparate systems
  • Enabled near-real-time alerts to detect anomalies and performance drops
  • Eliminated Excel-based workflows with centralized pipelines and persistent data models
Visualization & BI
  • Built interactive dashboards for key KPIs and embedded them into the company’s frontend
  • Enabled self-service editing and filtering of metrics without engineering help
  • Transitioned manual charting into dynamic reporting infrastructure
Full-Stack Development
  • Collaborated on system integrations and embedded NaNLABS engineers into sprint cycles
  • Adapted front- and backend workflows to new data inputs and infrastructure
  • Contributed to both lab-based test environments and live production stations
