WootCloud, acquired by Netskope, is an enterprise IoT cybersecurity company that helps organizations detect, prevent, and remediate security threats across a growing universe of unmanaged smart devices. Their platform analyzes radio and network spectrum to assess risk in real time, offering critical context for every connected device.

As demand grew, WootCloud’s platform began to struggle:

The Solution

NaNLABS led a full-stack modernization, including:
Cloud & Data Infrastructure
  • Replaced EC2 with a serverless architecture using AWS Lambda, reducing operational burden and idle cost
  • Built a scalable backend with MongoDB and Elasticsearch to centralize data and enable high-speed indexing
  • Deployed Apache Kafka and Apache Spark to support real-time data pipelines and large-scale processing
  • Implemented AWS S3 for secure, data storage and backups
Machine Learning Enhancements
  • Refined WootCloud’s AI/ML models for improved anomaly detection and classification
  • Enhanced data quality to reduce false positives and improve signal-to-noise ratio
Codebase Stability
  • Cleaned up buggy legacy code and implemented automated testing across the board
  • Tools used: pytest, Jest, SonarQube, Cypress
Frontend Modernization
  • Migrated to ReactJS and created modular, reusable components with Storybook
  • Built interactive charts using Highcharts and D3.js to visualize threat intelligence in real time
Agile Integration
  • Embedded into WootCloud’s engineering team with structured agile ceremonies and sprint planning
